Wed, Jan 19th — Guest Speaker, Ann Breckon The Magic of Watercolor, Ink & Gouache Resist
The Port Ludlow Art League is delighted to present Ann Breckon as our online guest speaker on Wednesday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. Ann will be demonstrating gouache resist, which is an amazing technique to use with watercolors. Gouache, an opaque water media, is used as a temporary resist over which a solid layer of black India ink is painted. The whole piece is submerged in a water bath to remove the gouache and reveal paper with a textured black pattern on which to paint.
Ann began studying watercolor almost 40 years ago. Over the years, art in its many forms has always been an important part of her life. Although Ann enjoys sketching in pencil and ink, watercolors give her the ability to add vibrant color to her artwork. “Watercolors move with a mind of their own sometimes,” says Ann, “providing an endless set of surprises and challenges and a feeling of life as you work with them.”
Ann is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society of America and the Northwest Watercolor Society, and holds membership in the American Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Eastside Association of Fine Arts, and the Women Painters of Washington.
Port Ludlow Art League members and guests are welcome to attend Ann’s presentation using Zoom. If you are interested, please email a2112|||plvoice|||org|||PLAL Info, before Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
